History
Grass Roots began in 2003 at the New Carlisle United Methodist Church with a vision to help orphaned children. In December 2004 with a small Tanzanian staff, Angel House Orphanage opened its doors to 27 children. Many of the children began to attend school for the first time. Since 2004 a number of children have graduated from primary school and are now attending secondary school (high school).
In November 2009 40 children moved into their new home near Gamasara village outside of Tarime Tanzania. The facilities include a deep-water well providing clean drinking water, roof mounted solar collectors, and a bountiful shamba (garden). Today Angel House has a larger staff and more children to house and educate.
The support of Grass Roots has expanded from a small multidenominational group of churches and individuals in the Dayton Ohio area to a much larger group of churches and individuals representing many communities around the USA.
Future plans include a school (currently under construction), a medical clinic, and a church/community center building.
